Procedure records

Capture each completed procedure on a tooth and surface, with fee, notes, and specialty.

For general dentistry work, treatment plans are often overkill; you just want to log what was done. Kythro's Procedure records capture the unit of clinical work that happens in a visit: composite #16 MOD, scaling lower arch, RCT obturation on #36. Each record carries FDI tooth notation, surface tags (M, O, D, B, L), specialty, catalog item snapshot, fee with tax, and notes. Records sit alongside treatment plans, so a clinic can use plans for staged work (ortho, full-mouth rehab) and procedure records for visit-level capture.

The problem this removes

Visit-level capture in a generic dental PMS forces you to wedge everything into a 'treatment plan' even when there is no plan, just a tooth, a procedure, and a fee.

How Procedures works in Kythro

  • •Per-tooth, per-surface capture using FDI notation
  • •Catalog item snapshot keeps historical records accurate when prices change
  • •Specialty tag drives reporting and filters
  • •Multi-surface picker (M, O, D, B, L) with the same vocabulary as the dental chart
  • •Fee with tax, mirrors treatment-plan line items and catalog items
  • •Renders on the patient chart for any clinic with a non-ortho specialty enabled

Questions about Procedures

When do I use a procedure record vs a treatment plan?

Treatment plans model staged or phased work that runs across multiple visits, like orthodontic cases and full-mouth rehab. Procedure records capture discrete completed procedures on a tooth. Most general dental visits are procedure records (one MOD composite, one scaling). Ortho clinics use both: a plan for the case, and optional procedure records for ad-hoc non-ortho work on the same patient.

Which tooth-numbering system does Kythro use?

Universal (1-32 permanent, A-T primary) or FDI notation, chosen per clinic in settings. US practices typically run Universal; the chart, procedure records, and notes all follow the clinic setting.

Can I edit a procedure record after saving?

Yes. Each record has inline edit and delete in the patient's Procedures section. The locking pattern that applies to clinical notes does not apply here; procedure records are administrative, not chair-side legal records.
