An ortho case is rarely a flat list - it is a sequence: workup, bonding, adjustments, debond, retention. Crownly lets you add named phases to any treatment plan with an estimated duration, tag each line item to its phase, and surface live progress on the patient chart ('Phase 2 of 3 · 4 of 6 items done').
The problem this removes
Flat treatment plans hide where a long ortho case actually is. Doctors and patients have no shared view of 'are we in alignment, finishing, or retention?', and there is no automatic signal when a phase completes.

What is a treatment plan phase?
A named, optionally time-bound stage of a multi-visit case. For example, an ortho case might run Phase 1 (records and bonding, 1 month), Phase 2 (active alignment, 12 months), and Phase 3 (retention, 6 months). Each line item on the plan can be tagged to a phase, and progress is tracked from the items' individual status.
Do I have to use phases?
No. Phases are optional. Existing plans and any new plan you create stay a flat list of line items until you add a phase. The chart only shows a Phase stat once a plan has at least one phase defined.
How does Crownly know which phase is current?
Crownly picks the first phase in order whose items are not all marked done. As you tick line items off during treatment, the current phase advances automatically. The patient chart shows the phase number, name, and the items-done count beneath it.
What happens if I delete a phase mid-treatment?
Items tagged to that phase are not deleted - they simply become un-phased and continue to count towards the plan total. Progress on the chart recomputes from whichever phases remain.
